A Markham family is seeking financial support following the sudden passing of photographer Victor Lee on Sept. 25.
According to a GoFundMe page, the 46-year-old father went to see a doctor for what he thought was a minor stomach virus on Sept. 22. Not even 24 hours after being sent home with instructions to rest, Lee collapsed in the bathroom.
By the time paramedics arrived on the scene more than 40 minutes later, Lee’s condition had deteriorated significantly and multiple organs had failed.

He died later that day.
“Now, his wife faces this devastating loss while trying to raise their young son, who just started junior kindergarten,” Nelson Lee, Victor’s younger brother, wrote on the GoFundMe page. “She is suddenly the sole provider, carrying not only heartbreak but the overwhelming weight of financial responsibility.”

Donations to the GoFundMe page will go toward supporting his wife and young son as they navigate the loss.
“The road ahead feels daunting: covering daily expenses, maintaining stability for their son, setting aside funds for his education and preserving the future his father dreamed of,” Nelson Lee’s statement continued.

Donations have totalled more than $101,000 from nearly 500 individual donors in just over one week since the page was set up. The family has requested donations be made to this page in lieu of flowers.
