º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½recognizes the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit peoples across Canada
Folks are welcome to observe as red dresses are hung in Royal City Park (south) in º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½throughout today, or join a collective space there for healing at 6:30 p.m.
The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) said Indigenous women are twice as likely to experience intimate partner violence and sexual assault and four times as likely to die by femicide.

º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½is honouring missing and murdered Indigenous Women, girls and two-spirit peoples, and inviting the community to remember them.
Each year on Oct. 4, the holds events called Sisters in Spirit for the National Day of Action for Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-spirit Peoples.
In Guelph, the (SOAHAC), (CHC) and invite residents to Royal City Park at on the south bank of the river today at 6:30 p.m. to share a collective space for healing, they said in a news release.

Everyone is welcome to come throughout the day and observe an installation of hanging red dresses in memory of those women who are missing, or who were murdered. As this is a place for respect and mourning, the groups ask that photos taken not include people.
The NWAC said in a report that in Canada, Indigenous women make up four per cent of the population but are 50 per cent of the people who experience trafficking. They also said that Indigenous women are twice as likely to experience intimate partner violence and sexual assault than non-Indigenous women and are four times more likely to die by femicide.

The groups said that the federal government called gender-based violence an epidemic last August, and the City of º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½joined 94 other Ontario cities in declaring an epidemic of intimate partner violence in their municipalities in December.
