I went to festivals, saw all kinds of live music and enjoyed the final days of my kids’ summer vacation doing as many different activities as possible. I was lucky to be welcomed at events and have the chance to chat with members of the community. Of course, I also just love taking pictures of everyone.

The weekend of Aug. 15 to 17, I went to a couple of times and really enjoyed the shows.

Yukon Blonde was held up due to the Air Canada strike, so Sam Roberts filled in last-minute and packed the Grasslands Stage with more people than ever before. He was glad to come for what he called a “rock ‘n’ roll emergency.”

One of my favourite end-of-summer traditions for our entire family is going to the put on by the Rotary Club of ߲ݴýTrillium at Riverside Park. This year the Kramdens headlined on Friday, Aug. 22 and Practically Hip was back for their regular Saturday night on Aug. 23.

Of course, most folks went for the food — and the ribs were a popular choice. Other favourites were roasted corn, cornbread, blooming onions, lemonade, ice cream and other sweet, deep-fried treats.
